Ministry of Culture of Russia did not support the proposal to ban American movies – to Pravda.Ru



The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation has opposed the idea of ​​banning or restricting the show American films on the territory of Russia, as well as against any other sanctions the field of culture, ITAR-TASS reported.

On Wednesday, at a meeting of the Expert Council of the Russian Popular Front director Yuri Kara made a proposal to prohibit the showing of American films in cinemas in Russia, while not anti-Russian sanctions lifted. According to the director, it would also benefit the development of the national cinema.

“The Ministry of Culture believes that the level of culture sanctions do not work, so there is no sense that any ban. Sanctions – is generally a thing of the past. Measures support of the Russian cinema may be needed, but this issue also needs to be approached very carefully, taking into account the views of all of the film community, experts in the field, “- said the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

Chairman of the Committee on Culture , co-chairman of the Popular Front Stanislav Govorukhin suggested other measures. In his view, it is sufficient to limit the display of American films in cinemas in Russia, while increasing the share of rental movie, filmed in countries with a rich cinematic culture – European, Korean, Japanese, Turkish and Iranian.
