“Sunstroke” by Nikita Mikhalkov received the “Gold Cup” in Shanghai – a REGNUM

Beijing, June 21, 2015, 18:28 – REGNUM Nikita Mikhalkov’s film “Sunstroke” received the “Gold Cup” at the 18th Shanghai International Film Festival in the category “Best Cinematography”, reports RT.

The picture is loosely based on two works of Ivan Bunin – the story “Sunstroke” and diaries 1918-1920 “Cursed Days”. According to BBC News, the idea to make a movie based on the prose Bunin Mikhalkov came to more than 37 years ago.

On the main prize were also nominated pictures from Taiwan, South Korea, the US, Poland, France, Belgium, Iran and Finland. The jury of the main competition in 2015 led nominee for “Oscar” Russian director Andrei Zvyagintsev (“Leviathan”, 2014).

Shanghai International Film Festival – the largest event in the world of Chinese cinema. In 2015, it takes place from 13 to 21 June. It is accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations. The first Shanghai International Film Festival was held in October 1993: it has been demonstrated in the 167 films from 33 countries. Among the jury members were Karen Shakhnazarov and Oliver Stone. Since then he has held every two years, until 2001, when it was decided to hold annually.
