Sakhalin International Film Festival “Land of Light” began – RIA “Vostok-Media”

 On the eve of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk opened the fifth International Film Festival “Land of Light”. RIA “Vostok-Media” says that this year’s festival jury headed by Iranian film director Mohsen Makhmalbaf. Assess the competition program films will also be a Filipino director Lav Diaz, known Russian actors Danila Kozlovsky and Anna Chipovskaya, screenwriter Alexander Rodionov.

 The welcoming ceremony the guests of the festival and march them on the carpet was held with participation of the head of the region. Oleg Kozhemyako Film Forum welcomed the participants and reminded that the current, the fifth film festival coincides with a number of important dates: the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, the liberation of southern Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands. The military theme is also reflected in the festival program. The governor also said that every year the geography of the event: the guests and participants come from different countries of the world.

 Oleg Kozhemyako expressed confidence that a favorite with audiences and filmmakers festival will continue its history and in the following years. He wished all the participants and guests of the forum success, spectators – bright impressions and good mood.

 The competitive program opened the picture “Nechzha” Chinese director Li Xiaofeng. Fight for the prize of the festival will be nine more films from India, Turkey, South Korea, Russia and Armenia. Viewers will show films and non-competitive programs. Film Week in the Sakhalin region will end on August 28.
