Rome, February 20 – RIA Novosti, Natalia Shmakov Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in memory of Umberto Eco decided to hold throughout 2016 various initiatives dedicated to this famous writer, 80 institutes of Italian culture in different countries.

As the saying goes the foreign ministry, in all the cities where there are such institutions, will organize conferences and other events dedicated to the numerous works of Umberto Eco, with the participation of representatives of culture.
“The death of Umberto Eco – a terrible loss for Italian culture he was an artist who contributed to the fact that Italian art was known and loved throughout the world.” – Said the Foreign Minister of Italy
The famous Italian. writer, philosopher, historian and medievalist Umberto Eco, who in January turned 84 years old, died at 22.30 on Friday at his home in Milan. According to some local media, about two years ago he was found pancreatic cancer. Funeral ceremony for Eco will be held at three o’clock in the afternoon (17:00 MSK) on Tuesday, February 23 at the famous Castello Sforzesco in Milan. According to the wishes of the deceased, a memorial service will be of a purely civil character.
