Boeing has decided to review a version of its best-selling Boeing 737 to create on its basis a new aircraft model that will help the company in competition with Airbus

Boeing company is exploring the possibility of creating a model based on the Boeing 737 MAX 7, the new version of the aircraft, according to The Wall Street Journal. The same information confirmed to Reuters sources.

The new model is slightly larger 737 MAX 7 and is designed for more passengers. Plans are preliminary, no details are known, to Reuters sources said, but Boeing is now analyzing whether there is a need for such a product.

The new model can revive the relatively slow sales of the 737 MAX 7 and help the Boeing Company in the fight against Airbus Group for market share, Reuters notes. Airbus beats Boeing because of its A320.

It would also help the company to win back in the competition with the novelty of Bombardier Inc aircraft the CSeries, which seems determined to win a large order from Delta Air Lines Inc.

Boeing refused to comment on these plans.

Boeing should enlist the support of the proposed model by United Continental Holdings Inc, and Southwest Airlines, which had previously ordered the smallest model of the Boeing 737, notes The Wall Street Journal.

Boeing officially calls the considered model 737 MAX 7X. It should accommodate about 150 passengers, according to the WSJ. From a technical point of view, the new model will be “narrowed” or “korotkofyuzelyazhnoy” version of the 737 MAX 8.
