On May 28, Venice will begin its work anniversary XV International Architecture Biennale Biennale di Venezia – one of the most significant architectural exhibitions of the planet, which is held every two years.
The exposition of the Russian pavilion called V.D.N.H. Urban Phenomenon and talks about the past, present and future of the most famous and large-scale exhibition of the country, existing in Moscow since 1939. The story of the ENEA takes place on two levels.
The bottom is dedicated to the history and shows some artifacts of the Soviet era, recreated a group of young sculptors.
– When entering the room we were met by a black gilded relief Eugene Vucetic and black and white dynamic infographics, telling about the development of the ENEA. Next – a crypt with white sculptures. The works of talented young architects and sculptors on ENEA designed for six months. For us, their presence is essential. We understand that it has to be stored, it is available for people, and then begins the mass of options: what do you think we should do with it, how can we better use it? We do not want to give ready-made answers – emphasizes Nefedov. – We offer visitors – Today the specialists – think about such a situation. Of course, we do not hide the totalitarian past of this complex. But the civilization that created ENEA, long since disappeared, and the space is left, and we want this space lived, was active. How? Answers to this question can be a lot.
The problem of development of a large space, it seems, is just ahead of Russia. Other countries concerned by the operation of a much smaller area, which is reflected in the theme of the Biennale – “Reports from the Front” proposed by the curators Chilean architect Alejandro Aravenoy.
This refers to the front, which turned out to millions of villagers trying to move into the city. The task of architects – to offer the conditions of their accommodation, affordable and practical housing. This topic has excited the representatives of Latin America and Asia.
And the representatives of the European Union concerned about the need to accommodate refugees from the Middle East and Africa. These issues can be found in the pavilions of Austria and Germany. They address issues of housing affordability for immigrants, sought options for consolidation and conversion for housing business centers.
On the background of problems with finding space for housing in Europe, Latin America and Asia, the exposition of the Russian pavilion stands a little apart. The Russian exposition – not about where to take the space, and how to use it efficiently.

The fact that the guests will see the Biennale in Venice, can be viewed in Moscow, when the exposition of the Russian pavilion will move at ENEA. But it will not happen soon, in early 2017.
