Moscow. 19 Oct. INTERFAX.RU – a Short film about the Holocaust “Brut”, created with the support of the Federation of Jewish communities of Russia, has hit the extended list of nominees for the Academy award “Oscar”, said on Wednesday the press service of the FJC.
“Nice to know that the Committee is the world’s largest film lately prefers the paintings, which touched upon the second world war and the Holocaust. This will certainly help to draw the viewers ‘attention to the acute problem of national and religious intolerance and the terrible consequences of its manifestations”, – quotes the press service of the President of the FJCR Alexander Beard.
According to him, the film worked for an international team, in the lead roles was involved in the famous Russian actors, and if “Brutus” will receive “Oscar” it will be a great asset for the whole country.
the Film “Brutus”, based on the story by the Czech writer Ludwig Ashkenazi, the second part of the film almanac “Witnesses”, which consists of three novellas representing an unusual view of the Holocaust. In the picture the eyes of a dog named Brutus show the cruelty of the human world.
the production was attended by cinematographers from Belarus, Israel, Moldova, Romania, USA and Ukraine. Starring Oksana Fandera, Filipp Yankovsky, Vladimir Koshevoy and Anna Churina.
members of the crew are related to the tragic events of the mid-twentieth century. Thus, almost all relatives of the Director of FAM on the maternal side were killed on the territory of Belarus and Ukraine during the war, the famous Israeli operator Giora Beach – the son of former prisoners of concentration camps Auschwitz and Theresienstadt, and the Belarusian co-producer of the almanac Yury Toy – the son of “Righteous among the Nations” (a title since 1953, is awarded in Israel to non-Jews who saved Jews).
the First story of the anthology film “Shoes” was released in 2012, became the winner of several film festivals and also participated in the struggle for “Oscar”.
In Belarus filming the third Novella – film “the Violin” tells the story of the musical instrument that goes through the horrors of war and ends the story at the Wailing wall in Jerusalem.
