The Garage will show in 2017 exhibition Takashi Murakami – TASS

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. The first retrospective exhibition of Japanese artist Takashi Murakami will be held in the fall of 2017 at the Museum of modern art “Garage” in Moscow. TASS reported on Monday the press service of the Museum.

“the exhibition will include painting, graphics, films and animations Murakami from public and private collections”, – noted in the Garage.

Chronologically, the exhibition will cover the period from the mid 1990-ies till the present time. Each of the five sections of the exhibition, Murakami will be talking about different phenomena of Japanese culture, one way or another influenced the work of one of the most expensive artists in the art market. His works will complement the Japanese prints and paintings from the collections of the State Museum of fine arts named after A. S. Pushkin State Museum of arts of peoples of the East, as well as manga, anime and artifacts from the Studio of Murakami. The artist will create several works especially for the exhibition, as it will make the sculpture for the arts Square in front of the “Garage”.

One of the first projects of the “Garage” in the new year will be a triennial in the Museum from March 10 will present an exhibition with works by 60 artists who were chosen on the basis of regional expeditions curators of the “Garage”. Simultaneously, in the framework of Garage Atrium Commissions, the Museum will show a three-story installation by Irina Korina “Tail wagging the comet”. Two of the curator of the Venice Biennale is okwui Envezor and Massimiliano gioni, will present the exhibition designed by the SKOLKOVO campus architect David Adjaye “Form, mass, material” and the American artist Raymond Pettibon respectively.
