Moscow. 8 Feb. INTERFAX.RU – the Permanent Commission of the Kyiv city Council on culture, tourism and information policy at the meeting on Wednesday agreed on the renaming of the Kiev national Museum of Russian art in the national Museum “Kyiv art gallery”. About it reports a press-service of the city Council.

“We offer Museum of Russian art return to the historical name. Under the law, the question of changing the name of the institution within the competence of the founder of the Museum. The founder is the city Council, according to the decision on the renaming can be made without taking into account the views of the workforce. But our Commission appealed to the labor collective of the meeting on this issue. It passed, but, unfortunately, constructive dialogue failed, the Museum has not announced specific proposals,” – said the Chairman of the Commission on culture Victoria Fly.

the Corresponding decision will also consider at the plenary session of the city Council.

Earlier, former city Council member Elena Eskina reported on the decision of the Commission on culture of city administration to rename the Museum of Russian art in the national Museum “Kiev gallery”.

Some time in the early 1930-ies the Museum was considered a National art gallery, where he exhibited not only Russian art, but also contemporary Ukrainian art. In 1936 called “the Kiev state Museum of Russian art”.
